Thirty-one members and one guest attended our Jan 5, 2012 meeting. (originally scheduled for December 15th, 2011). Kim Bursey opened up her home for the meeting and Carrie Fair was the co-hostess. Karen Willis, 2012 President, opened the meeting with a greeting and reading, The Real 12 Days of Christmas by Helen Haidle. This old familiar song contains Christian symbols for each of the 12 days.
Polly Duvall was recognized for her six years of service as president from 2006-2011. She was presented with a musical snowman.
Our prayer partners for 2012 are John Mann UMW. The schedule for the 2012 meetings was shared. Members are encouraged to be a hostess, co-hostess, or program leader for the upcoming six meetings.
The Book Club met Dec. 8th at Susie Gerometta’s home. An Amish Christmas by Cynthia Miller was discussed.
Rachel Hayton will be our coordinator for Amor y Paz. There are four groups of ladies providing meals on selected Tuesdays and Thursdays for the next several months.
We are trying to get our Reading Program off the ground. Carrie Fair will be discussing this at our next meeting.
We contributed one hundred dollars to the following organizations: ARC, CCAP, Special Love, The Laurel Center, and Henry and William Evans Home for Children.
The Day Apart meeting was held at BFUMC on Dec. 3rd. There were forty to forty-five attending. A big thanks to all who helped and provided cookies.
Good food and fellowship were enjoyed by all attending the joint UMM and UMW breakfast held Jan. 14th at the Ruritan building. The UMW are too thankful to the men for preparing a delicious meal. A huge THANK YOU for the gift of $2,000.00 to support the UMW and their mission projects. The UMW will be hosting the men with a dinner on March 3rd. A committee was formed to plan this event.
Everyone is encouraged to pray for her mission name and contact them on their birthday, either through email or a card.
Our meeting concluded with revealing 2011 prayer partners, drawing prayer partners for 2012, eating delicious refreshments and a thieves gift exchange.
The next UMW meeting will be held February. 16th at BFUMC. Martha Ludtke will be the hostess and Nancy Hulver the co-hostess. Karen will present a welcome 2012 program and Susie will lead our annual Call to Prayer program.
