About Burnt Factory
History
In the early 1800's, Millbrook Methodist Church occupied the site which is now Burnt Factory United Methodist Church. The original church was built on land deeded by Jesse Calvert "for a place to preach and espouse the word of God." Between 1830 and 1850 the community and church named changed to the Burnt Factory after a local woolen mill burned down.
The original church was torn down in 1925, and the existing sanctuary was dedicated in 1928. A fellowship hall with Sunday School classes was added in 1969 and a picnic shelter in 1980.
